Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and moved to Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state have drawn many to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame said: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado as John Denver." Denver was the first Hall of Fame to be inducted into the hall. To many, Denver is the symbol of Colorado. While traveling, I will meet people on opposite sides of the world. Like, for instance, someone from New Zealand. And when you tell them you're Colorado-based, Colorado you will get "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time with folk bands which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff wrote the song with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver saw an early rendition immediately, he realized the track could become an instant hit. The song was recorded a couple of days after playing at Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
